Crisis Chats – Carina Bauer from IMEX Group

One of our highlights of the year comes in May – IMEX in Frankfurt, the biggest trade show in the world for the business events industry. Spacebase has been taking part for years, and we always look forward to the unique opportunities and atmosphere at IMEX, as the international community comes together under one (massive) roof.

But 2020 has not been like previous years.

Back in March, the decision to cancel IMEX Frankfurt was announced and, like many of you, we were shocked and extremely sad to hear the news. It represented a moment of stark realisation about how serious the crisis was, and how big an effect it was going to have on all of us.

In the wake of that difficult decision, however, we’ve also been watching with curiosity and excitement, as the indefatigable IMEX team put together a unique new offering: Planet IMEX.

For our next Crisis Chat, Julian spoke to CEO of IMEX Group, Carina Bauer, to find out more.

In Part 1, Carina discusses the path to cancelling IMEX, the huge impact this had, and how agile strategy and willingness to experiment has kept the team motivated – to build something totally new and ‚leapfrog‘ into virtual events.

You can register here for EduMonday (May 11th) and IMEX Community Day (May 12th), and we’ll be announcing details about our ZEUS Event Tech Panel for IMEX Community Day, together with our ZEUS partners, very soon.

For Part 2 of our chat with Carina, stay tuned!
