Crisis Chats – with Matthias Schultze from GCB

“Alles, was wir prognostiziert haben für die nächsten 3-5 Jahre, ist in 14 Tagen eingetroffen.”

“Everything that was predicted for the next 3-5 years has taken place in just 14 days.

The future is an unstable entity – sometimes close, sometimes far – but perhaps our relation to the future (our ability to guess what comes next, to make plans for different scenarios) has never been curtailed like it has now.

With long-term restrictions still placed on large events, including the cancellation of Oktoberfest earlier this week, it’s a time when extremely tough decisions are being made about the future.

Following Julian’s chat, we’re excited to continue our series of ‚Crisis Chats‘ with leading figures from the meetings and events industry, to better understand how they are handling the crisis. This week, Christian spoke with Matthias Schultze, Managing Director of the German Convention Bureau

Matthias shares his insights, including an overview of projects the GCB is currently involved in. This includes the launch of eventcrisis.org, to provide the community with reliable up-to-date information; support for German partners and collaboration with European partners; and ongoing research into digitalisation, as part of the long-running Future Meeting Space study.

More to say? Ideas or feedback? Let us know – you can keep the conversation going and keep up with the latest, by following us on social media at @meetspacebase and our partners at @eventcrisis.org and @tw_media.

More Crisis Chats coming up soon – stay healthy!
